Refinance Rates Today at Record Lows: Current 30 Year Mortgage Refinance Rates at 3.39%

Refinance rates today hit another round of record low average rates, driven lower by the Fed purchasing mortgage backed securities (MBS) to the tune of $40 billion month. This is on top of the current program of reinvesting $45 billion a month in principal payments from holdings of agency debt and agency MBS back into agency MBS until the end of 2012. Both programs are designed to drive mortgage rates lower and the Fed's policies are already working.
